Ok, so I got my new TPS sensor today, and fitted it (pure guess work, was not aligning it to 0.45v), and the results are the same. The only real setting that seems to improve how my car run's is by advancing the distributor. In fact, I actually have the dizzy on FULL advance!!!! Going on that I am guessing that it has slipped a tooth, or something as surely I shouldn't be able to run full advance without issue's? (I've looked at 'fasthands' car and his is roughtly central and his car performs perfectly).

Also.. something else I noticed today... I'm not sure it's actually engaging 1st gear. When I drove it first at the garage it would be in first gear till around 4000rpm, then change. I asked them amongst other things to get it checked out. Now it seems I 'may' be actually pulling away in 2nd Gear. Any idea's why this might be, and what they may have done to cause this?

Basically "HELP" on both these issues :D

If I use D2 from standstill, it will pull away in 2nd gear. D3/D4 uses 1st gear. Hope it helps...

Car in local garage (not aj's) having cams retimed. Hope this sorts the issue. Engine mount also bust but see other thread for that.

EDIT: Went in to see how they were getting on. Only 31k miles on engine but having new cambelt put on anyway. Main problem was cams were two teeth out!!! eek. That would explain the really poor performance. Just waiting for the engine mount to be sourced and then the bill lol.

Apparently everyone who came in was loving it.

Just waiting for the engine mount to turn up now (tomorrow) but popped in, and they had re-timed it along with the new belt etc. Now thre is only the very smallest of hesitations when revving and rev's so quickly, very happy. Now just to re-tax it hope everything else is ok for the moment lol. (and waiting for the bill ;) )

Just glad we caught it and my (and Marks) diagnosis was correct :-) Mean's once some spare cash isn't being sucked up by the baby, I can spend some money tuning the car with either vtec a turbo/supercharger or both :D Very happy.

S-MX now back home after £250 bill. Runs so much better though. Needs some more fine tuning will get that sorted and the cam cover has not sealed properly so will get garage to sort that out.

Wife had a quick drive and loves it.

I reckon it needs a little more dizzy advance but runs great at present. The new tps sensor prob needs a tiny adjustment as well, a new air filter would be great as well.
