Anyone find a solution to getting this light off? I say the thread confirming what it is but no answers!
Was running on 3 cylinders for a good few miles after a WET trip to Maidenhead, was maybe 100 miles before I could get some tools & sort it out. 'The Cat Overheat warning light' came on not long after the missing started & now stays on!
I tried disconnecting the battery & pushing the brake pedal as suggested to clear codes but light still on. Car running fine- just annoying to have a warning light on!
Anyone any ideas?

It could be staying on because you have actually goosed the cat.
I am sure the interweb and inform you about cat removal tho. I cant see it being a problem for a mot if the engine is running ok.

i had this problem a week after picking the car up,in the end they put a new lambda sensor in and the light went out...
they said they followed all the wiring back to ecu's to turn light off but not sure they did.. as i plugged the car into my diagnostic equiptment and there was no faults stored,
have you done a blink test as that should pinpoint where the problem is

Yea- thinking the cat is cooked judging by the raspy rattle developing between 2.5-3k rpm!
Does anyone know much about the decat pipes available? How do these affect lamda sensor & is the cat needed for mot on a car this age?

Hi, There is a company called Auto Technics in Weston on the Green that will do you a decat pipe. The following is from their website: "Decat pipes can be constructed into your existing exhaust system or into a new system you have made by us. The cost of a decat pipe depends on the complexity etc but as a rough guide it is around £75-£125. Remember that you may need to refit the CAT when the MOT is due if you are using the car on the road again." Hope this helps.
